Listen up…

John Griff (photo from BBC Radio Northampton Website)

DJ, John Griff at BBC Radio Northampton has been a valued supporter of project50 from its inception and had me back on air for the third time last Monday. The programme is available online until this Sunday if you’d like to have a listen. My bit is about halfway through (so about an hour in) after Brian Ferry and Ollie Murs.

There was so much I wanted to say and John is very good at steering the conversation. However, he covers so much during his questions I find myself losing focus, hence the occasional rambling and going off on a tangent. Public speaking is one of those uncomfortable things I’m trying to meet head-on and I can’t pretend I’ve got there yet. You can hear the nerves in my voice. But the interview drove more traffic to the blog and I have three more candidates for the This is 50! book, so it’s all good!

Each time John has me on his programme, he asks what I’m going to do at the end of the year, on my 50th birthday. Am I going to just stop writing the blog? I always answer truthfully “I don’t know”. I don’t – that’s part of the journey, going with the flow and seeing what comes up. It’s not always comfortable, but it’s certainly interesting, so I plan to continue not to plan for the foreseeable future! Except to see you tomorrow, of course!

  1. i though your radio interview was great it totaly got me thinking . my 50th is weeks away and and i am begining to look forward to surprising my family in some way not sure how yet but im working on it . any thourghts would be greatfull .keep up the good work

  2. Hi there, Donna – welcome to project50! Thanks for your kind comments. My thoughts on surprising your family? Sounds a bit dangerous to me! 😉

All I can say is that we all need to surprise ourselves – that should do the trick with the family too. I’ll be interested to hear what you DO decide to do!

    All the best, Jo x
