Down the Pan

There have been several occasions over the past couple of years where I have, I am ashamed to say, given in to self-pity and allowed myself to believe my life is going down the toilet. Well, last night, it almost literally did. Hands up – who keeps their phone in their back pocket? Who’s had a near miss when they visit the can? Guess what kind of damage isn’t covered by warranty or insurance? Pardon my language but – oh crap!

There is a theory that the emotional state often manifests in the physical world. So, for example, if we don’t want to listen we might develop an ear infection, being afraid to move forward equals stiffness in the knees and hips. Louise L. Hay, author of You Can Heal your Life is famous for her “affirmations” that claim to counter the negative thoughts that create “dis-ease” in the body.

I’m not saying this is proof, but I did take it as symbolic 😉

ADDENDUM: My phone is covered on my household insurance – hurrah! so I was right to cancel the extortionate mobile phone company insurance as my £100 excess is less than that over the two year contract. Phew. I’ll soon be getting my life back (or at least the means by which I organise it!)

  1. I’m actually a secret fan of Louise Hay and I find myself doing automatic mental ‘scans’ whenever I get things wrong with me. I also bear this in mind when I have my massage therapist hat on and it’s amazing how you can help someone to effect more change in their health when you address the psychological aspect of them as well. Thanks for reminding me about her.

Vis a vis ‘phones down the bog, Irish Alice has lost more mobiles in the lav than anyone else I know. I suggested to her that, being Irish, it was a sub-conscious yearning to return to the literal Bog. She says it’s because she gets drunk and falls over. Somewhere between the two, I reckon….
