I wish I didn’t like chocolate…

I wish I didn’t like chocolate – I know it does me no good,

But the endorphin rush when I bite the stuff

Thrills me far more than it should.

I wish I could munch on an apple with as much pleasure as soft caramel,

But the burst of sheer bliss at that chocolate kiss,

The texture, the flavour, the smell…

It melts on my tongue , such a sweet, smooth caress

It holds me, enfolds me,

Dissolves the day’s stress.

How can something so good be so bad, much like drugs?

I’m afflicted, addicted

To my chocolate hugs.

I’d eat it for breakfast, for dinner and lunches:

It’s calorie free, (according to me)

When eaten in bulk when you have the munchies.

So leave me alone, stop giving advice,

I eat healthily, but stealthily

I’ll keep my one vice!

  1. Good to see you back old thing. I’m on the Atkins Diet at the moment which means no carbs of any kind. Not being able to shovel down a sandwich when I’m flying around is hard enough but not having chocolate is a real problem. Boy the Elder forgot and bought me a ‘Feast’ ice cream this evening and it took every bit of willpower to put it in the freezer! It’s working though which helps me resist. Next time you see me, you won’t see me at all – I shall be hiding behind a blade of grass….
