LETTER TO MY SHRINKING SISTER

Dear Sal,

This is just a note to say I’m so proud of you for a) admitting you have a problem with your weight – not easy for any of us, and b) for having the motivation to do something about it. You’re looking so much better, not just because your shape is changing, but because your skin and eyes are glowing and you are standing taller. I can see what this means to you.

You work so hard and are so often are bowed down with worry. There are many areas of your life that feel as if they are outside your control. But you can control what you eat and the fact that you have has so obviously boosted your self esteem.

So I just wanted to say – don’t stop! Having one day when you stop eating mindfully, even if you eat your body weight in chocolate and round off the day with fish and chips, is not the end of the world. If you do the same the next day, if you stuff your face for a week, two weeks, you start going backwards. I know this – I’m writing this post as much for me as for you since I shared your chips yesterday! But today is a new day, a new start.

You have come so far and you look so good. This is something you are doing for YOU and consequently it is up there with raising your child and loving your man. Don’t give up now! Put down that muffin, walk away from the biscuit tin. In fact, walk a long, long way and then reward yourself with something that crunches when you eat it!

We will dance the funky chicken at my birthday party and our bottoms will keep time with the rest of our bodies. Keep THAT image in mind! You can do this, You are worth it.

Love Jo xx
