ShutterRock UK

Every now and again you meet someone who makes things happen. Jaz Ampaw-Farr had an idea in February – to bring UK photographers together to support, inspire and motivate one another. That idea turned into a philosophy, that turned into a movement that will create an event – the first ShutterRock Photography festival will take place in November 2011. Billed as British cool with a US edge, we will be joined by some of America’s rock star photographers for three days of photographic mayhem.

The festival is open to all photographers: the only criteria for being a ShutterRocker is that you bring a positive attitude and a willingness to share. Tickets go on sale in the next week or so, so if you’re interested, register here.  Meanwhile, on Sunday a group of us descended on Brighton to take the publicity shots. The photographer was Gary Lashmar of Marshall Gray Photography – for more of his photographs click here.

What I like about ShutterRock in particular is that it is inclusive – young, old, male, female, brown, white, sky blue pink. If you have a passion for photography and community this is for you. Here’s Jaz, the brains and the fizz behind the movement. Once met, never forgotten (for all the right reasons!) See if you can spot yours truly in the crowd. Yep, that’s me trying not to look like a prat 😉 Happy days!
