The Future came last Monday

I woke up on Monday and realised the future had arrived.

It might have been the drugs, of course, but it was a pretty cool feeling, I can tell you! Perhaps I should explain about the drugs. Last Friday I had a shoulder arthroscopy and capsular release – i.e: I had my frozen shoulder fixed – under general anaesthetic, and have been on industrial strength pain killers ever since. That means I feel no pain. And I mean NO PAIN.

As anyone will know who has suffered with any chronic physical problem, you don’t actually realise how much it was affecting you until it’s fixed. Does that explain the huge surge of physical energy I experienced in the week after the op? Or the glorious mental clarity? Maybe it was a morphine-high. All I know is that I’ve spring-cleaned the house, have almost finished my annual accounts and suddenly feel quietly confident about the direction in which I should take my business. Best of all, I feel calm. And happy.

A whole new world is coming into focus

Husband of my heart keeps looking at me sideways, as if half expecting me to have collapsed into a tearful heap. My physio has had a rant because I’ve spent the first week of my convalescence with a wet cloth in one hand and a vacuum in the other. I don’t care – I feel marvellous (and my house is clean).

I really hope this isn’t the drugs talking (or I might have to become a junkie). I can’t wait to take project50 forward and take a step closer to sharing my vision for really celebrating life in our fifties a step closer.

So watch this space. All I can say now is: the future is here – and I like it!
